We are proud to announce that India based artist, Sheena Bajaria will be showcasing her work with Mercurio Gallery. Sheena Bajaria was born and raised in Vadodara, Gujarat in India. She completed her BFA from Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore in 2017. Bajaria works in acrylic paints, oil bars, spray, soft pastel and uses sticks, sponges, and rocks to create impressions. Her work is influenced by abstract expressionist painters such as Jonathan Lasker, Cecily Brown, Cy Twombly, and Lee Krasner.
Bajaria thinks of her paintings as a platform to exercise her imagination where it becomes a mode of inhabiting space. The primitive marks on the canvas provide clues to her interpersonal relationship with the world around her. It mimics how her body not only occupies space in an immediate physical reality but also how it projects and manifests an illusion of space around it. As an artist, her interpretations stem from the intrinsic nature of how the painting is made. In it's making, she recognizes unique meanings that transform her perception of space and time. This is her way to introspect the phenomenological process of perception. The metaphysical approach to her art leads to questioning beyond our physical reality. Upcoming works by Sheena Bajaria will be added to the gallery site, on an ongoing basis & can be viewed here on Mercurio Gallery.
